IVOIRE HYDRO ENERGY SAS (IHE) is an Ivorian company created in February 2012 whose sole and unique purpose is the development, conception, financing, construction and operation & maintenance of the hydropower project of Singrobo-Ahouaty located on Bandama river in Côte d’Ivoire.
IHE shareholders are: Africa Finance Corporation (AFC), Themis Clean Energy (Themis) and IHE Holding.
Africa Finance Corporation (AFC), an investment grade multilateral finance institution, was established in 2007 with an equity capital base of US$1 billion, to be the catalyst for private sector-led infrastructure investment across Africa. With a current balance sheet size of approximately US$4.2 billion, AFC is the second highest investment grade rated multilateral financial institution in Africa with an A3/P2 (Stable outlook) rating from Moody’s Investors Service. AFC successfully raised US$750 million in 2015 and US$500 million in 2017; out of its Board-approved US$3 billion Global Medium Term Note (MTN) Programme. Both Eurobond issues were oversubscribed and attracted investors from Asia, Europe and the USA.

Themis is an Africa-centric independent power generation company focused on renewable and gas-fired power projects. The team, headquartered in Casablanca Finance City in Morocco, has a proven track record in Africa and extensive execution capabilities. Themis landmark references are the 80MW thermal power plant in Rwanda, which reached financial close in 2017 and the 44 MW hydropower plant in Côte d’Ivoire which reached financial close in 2018. Themis has entered in 2018 into a strategic partnership with Denham Capital, a global energy private equity firm, for the investment of USD 250 million of equity in the energy sector in Africa.
IHE Holding is a Côte d’Ivoire based investement vehicule owned by the project’s local sponsosors, namley Mr Etty. An electric engineer by trianing, Mr Etty is the former deputy general manager (1999-2005) of CIE, the national power company. Mr Etty is backed by a team of experienced engineers with significant hydropower experience in Côte d’Ivoire.
