Ivoire Hydro Energy SA (IHE) is pleased to announce the signature of the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract with French construction company Eiffage. This major milestone will pave the way to financial close and start of construction for the Singrobo-Ahouaty hydropower project.
Eiffage, a French EPC contractor, was selected following an international competitive bidding process. Eiffage has over 150 years of experience and EUR 15 billion annual turnover is considered as a leading building and public works and concession company. the planted will be operated by IHE and maintained by General Electrics.
The project will achieve a CO2 reduction of 124 thousand tons per annum, create circa 500 jobs during the 3-year construction period and improve infrastructure for the benefit of land-locked rural communities. The project was designed to avoid and minimize negative environmental and social impacts. The studies were led by best-in-class international experts in compliance with International Finance Corporation Performance Standards and African Development Bank Operational Safeguards. Resettlement and biodiversity action plans have been prepared to manage negative residual impacts.
